This is not your typical kid’s-party-face-paint kind of art. Craig Tracy has mastered the ability to capture the beauty of the human form, the mystique of an optical illusion, and the artistry of painting.
The Artist: Craig Tracy
Born and raised in New Orleans, Craig and his family are used to the wondrous activities surrounding Mardi Gras, including face and body painting. His parents nurtured his creative spirit, allowing him to grow as an artist in concept and technique.
He spent his early adulthood as a freelance illustrator but became “mind-numbingly bored” at the lonely occupation and left to explore mural work. After delving into research about fine body painting art, Craig’s passion became so powerfully intrigued by the concept of body painting. Since then he has opened the only art gallery devoted to fine body paint art and has contributed his artistry to festivals, gallery showings, and teachings.

Craig can certainly say what many artists and designers cannot–that he has one of the best jobs in the world creating beautiful, and powerfully intimate art with the seductive curves of the human body.
Optical Illusions
Craig’s art also incorporates insane optical illusions into his body paint work. Taking into serious regard his overall composition, elements, and color scheme, Craig creates pieces that trick the viewer in a way that makes you forget the paint is actually on skin.
